In the Kitchen: Lemon Basil Cocktail

Lemon Basil Cocktail
I love using fresh basil from my basil plant in the backyard. I came up with this summer cocktail to highlight the flavors of the season and to beat the summer heat.

2 shots of cucumber infused vodka                                                                                                           1 to 1 1/2 cup sparkling lemonade (Get Efferve lemon-citron sparkling lemonade if you can find it. For availability click here)                                                                                                                               2 lemon wedges                                                                                                                                        4 basil leaves

  1. Muddle together the juice from two lemon wedge with two basil leaves
  2. Remove basil leaves from lemon juice and divide juice into to glasses 8oz. size
  3. Add lots of ice to each glass
  4. Pour one shot of vodka into each glass
  5. Pour 1/2 cup of Sparkling lemonade into each glass
  6. Top each drink with a a basil leaf
  7. Enjoy how refreshing this drink is!

Another great twist is to add a 1/2 shot of St. Germain liquor to each drink. St. Germain is an elderflower liquor from France.
