ABOUT THE WRITERS

Raeganne Djorlev:

Born and raised in Springfield Missouri, now residing in Chicago. The Midwest has given me a laidback vibe in life,  it has taught me to appreciate the outdoors and keep a small town mentality. Amber and Kelly are like sisters to me. We've lived together,  borrowed each others clothes,  consoled each other through breakups and new job opportunities, we've traveled together, laughed,  fought and learned from each other.  When we all moved away from each other,  we found it harder and harder to keep up with daily updates. Midwest Girls Society has been our opportunity to collaborate together and in doing this, it has brought us closer,  not in miles but through inspiration and encouragement.

Professionally,  I've been in the beauty industry for over 13 years, working in the salon environment and as a freelance stylist for editorial, weddings and fashion events. While I specialize in cut/color and waxing, in the past 4 years, I've branched out into makeup and skincare. My passion is helping people feel beautiful in the skin they're in and sharing my knowledge with them. Recreationally, I love to sew, glue,  staple and nail things together. I'm married to a wonderful man, we love to travel and enjoy the outdoors. I'm so excited about this blog and all the amazing people we will meet and things that we will learn along the way!

Amber Cook:

Being from the Midwest there has always been a strong emphasis on family, friendship, and hard work. As a young girl I spent a lot of time developing close friendships. Raeganne, Kelly and I had a shared experience growing up in the Midwest where there is always time to stop and reflect on what really matters. We spent a lot of time talking, laughing, and leaning on each other through the ups and downs of growing up. The foundation we have has really supported how close we are today. Living in three different cities across the globe has not stopped us from being there for birthdays, holidays, weddings, and so much more. So here we are today sharing with you our passions while showcasing strong, creative women from the Midwest.

My passion has always been cooking, eating, and feeding others. I began cooking as a teen and have never stopped. I love to host a great party and bring people together. I also love tea and coffee and have managed a coffee shop for the past couple of years.  I have been a barista for years, and I love it! With this new opportunity I am thrilled to share with you my favorite recipes and party how- to. So join me at the Harvest table where you will find healthy as well as decadent meals that feed the soul.

Kelly Ekardt:

Growing up in the Midwest provided me with the best friends a girl could have. I've known Raeganne and Amber since I was 12 years old and we are still close friends to this day, even though we are miles away from each other. We started Midwest Girls Society as a way to keep in touch as I've been living in London, England for the past 5 1/2 years. Let's just say homesick is an understatement. With each of us talented in different areas we thought it would be fun to share our interests with other women around us.

Studying fashion and interior design at University, I have been working in the fashion industry well since I graduated in 2008 and did many internships within the industry before graduation. Since then, I have tried my hand at many things: retail, product development, styling, and even owning my own business. After the birth of my little girl I started blogging full-time over at my mama blog, GIRLSTALKTOBOYS and now I am so happy to start this amazing adventure with my two closest friends here at Midwest Girls Society. Because we all know that Midwest is Best!!!!
